GREAT NEWS!

We are thrilled to announce that Pike, IDEXX and the City of Westbrook have reached a COMPROMISE!! Today at 1:30 at City Hall, Mayor Colleen Hilton will announce the agreement that will allow both companies to continue working in Westbrook! The agreement incorporates the recommendations of the Quarry Steering Committee, and is subject to approval by a vote of the Westbrook City Council on August 30. Citizens for Balanced Growth is incredibly grateful to the many Westbrook citizens and businesses who supported Pike throughout this lengthy dispute. We expect a favorable vote on the 30th, which will enable both IDEXX and Pike to co-exist in Westbrook.

We’ll be in touch soon with a summary and a copy of the consent agreement as soon as it is made available.

Please join us at the August 30th public hearing, where we’ll be once again be telling the City Council that a compromise is the right thing to do. This time, we’ll be THANKING them for their hard work over the past several months to make this agreement a reality!

Once again, THANK YOU for your support. Stay Tuned...!!!

Sincerely,

Citizens for Balanced Growth in Westbrook

Citizens for Balanced Growth in Westbrook was formed to ensure that businesses and industries in Westbrook are treated openly and fairly. Recent events have raised concerns about the direction of our city. One group, backed by a powerful biotech corporation, is pressuring the city to keep Pike Industries, a well-established manufacturing company, from expanding and retaining good-paying jobs for the area. We believe this is unfair and wrong.
